Rich's International Job-Hunting Resources
I'm occasionally asked how I lucked into my international career. Rather than try to remember the various places where I've seen jobs posted, I figured I'd do a page on this site...which would also help me keep all of the job resources straight. Do you know of other sites I don't have here? Drop me a line.
- Mercy Corps - Click on "Jobs" in the navigation bar at the top. Of course I'm going to list my own former employer first...Mercy Corps is a great organization to work for!
- new! Intjobs.org - Courtesy of Temuri: "It is the newly-opened, regularly-updated, ads-free, non-commercial website that lists and categorizes vacancies in a different UN agencies and International Organizations." Thanks, Temuri!
- the Permanent Mission of Italy to International Organizations in Geneva - Courtesy of Tanja: "there is a website of the Permanent Mission of Italy to International Organizations in Geneva,
which contains almost all links to vacancies in International Organizations - worldwide." Thanks, Tanja!
- conflicttransformation.org - This jobs list evolved from the former CEEJOBS and NISJOBS lists on Yahoo Groups. It's now a paid service, something like $25 per year. I paid to join it because I found my last two jobs through CEEJOBS, and this seemed like a good way to say thanks! Here's the official description of the site: "The Alliance for Conflict Transformation Announcement Forums are
one of the premier sites for receiving/posting information on career and educational opportunities in the fields of conflict transformation, peacebuilding, development and civil society worldwide."
- United Nations jobs - Jobs in the United Nations system, Part I.
- United Nations system jobs - Jobs in the United Nations system, Part II.
- internationaljobs.org - This is also a subscription service, issuing the very comprehensive ICEW publication weekly. You can browse the site for a free listing: look for "Hot Jobs". There's also a mailing list here, so you can sign up for alerts for jobs in your particular field.
- ReliefWeb - Another great source of positions in relief work. There's a weekly mailing list here. See a sample mailing list message.
- DevNetJobs.org - Another source of positions in development work. There's a weekly mailing list here: "For FREE SUBSCRIPTION to the DevNetJobs.org weekly jobs Digest: Send a
blank email to developmentjobs-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (automated
subscription) or write to us at jobs@devnetjobs.org." See a sample mailing list message.
- DevelopmentEx.com - Another source of positions in development work. There's a weekly mailing list here. See a sample mailing list message.
- Dev-Zone.org - Dev-Zone Employment Update is for people looking for work within the aid and development sector. See a sample mailing list message.
- USAID
Office of Procurement - USAID announces Personal Services Contractors (PSCs) vacancies through this site.
- Department of State Career Site - The United States Foreign Service employment homepage.
- Chronicle of Higher Education: Academe Today - Academic vacancies, infrequently overseas.
